Artwork guide
Getting your artwork ready.
A lanyard is long and narrow, so a little preparation goes a long way. Here is what to send and how to get the best result for each style.
Which file to send
Best: vector artwork. AI, EPS or PDF files made from shapes rather than pixels stay crisp at any size, and make it easy to separate colours for printing or weaving.
Also fine: a high-resolution PNG or JPG. Use the largest version you have. A transparent background helps. Small images taken from a website or email signature are usually too low in resolution.
Not sure what you have? Send it anyway. Artwork details are checked and confirmed with you as part of your quote. You can upload up to five files in the quote form, or send them later.
Colours
If you have Pantone references for your brand colours, include them. Colours look different on every screen, so references are the most reliable way to describe them. Choose a strap colour that contrasts with your logo so it stays easy to read.
Designing for a narrow strap
- Keep the logo or wording simple and bold. Fine lines and very small text can fill in or disappear.
- Think about repeats. Logos and wording usually repeat along the strap, so they can be read from either side of the neck.
- Wide logos work better than tall ones. A stacked logo may need a horizontal version.
- Leave space around the design so it does not touch the edges of the strap.
Tips for each style.
- Screen printedSolid colours printed onto the strap. Best for clear logos and lettering in a few colours.
- Full colourDetailed artwork, gradients, photographs and backgrounds across the whole strap.
- WovenYour design formed in coloured thread. Choose bold shapes and simple lettering.
- EmbroideredStitched branding. Avoid very fine detail and tiny text.
- Metallic printMetallic-effect inks. Strong contrast with the strap colour makes the effect stand out.
Names and photos for ID cards
For personalised ID cards or passes, send the details as a spreadsheet with one row per person, and name each photo file to match its row. Include only the information the card needs, and make sure the people named or pictured know their details are being used. Our privacy policy explains how we handle this information.
